COVID-19 Keeps 11 Additional Schools from Sending Two to UIL State Meet

When the decision was made to reduce the number of qualifying teams from the regional meets to the state meet from four to three, that left 24 boys and 24 girls programs that normally would make the trip to Round Rock sitting at home.

Seven of those schools would have increased the list of schools sending to two teams to 28, as the other team qualified, finishing first, second or third.

COVD-19 Denied
Argyle - Girls 3rd, Boys 4th (4A Region I)
Austin Vandegrift - Girls 1st, Boys 4th (6A Region IV)
Cedar Park - Boys 2nd, Girls 4th (5A Region IV)
Hamilton - Boys 2nd, Girls 4th (2A Region II)
Lufkin Hudson - Girls 2nd, Boys 4th (4A Region III)
Prosper Rock Hill - Boys 3rd, Girls 4th (5A Region II)
Round Rock - Boys 2nd, Girls 4th (6A Region IV)

Four more had the unfortunate honor of missing out twice as both boys and girls teams finished fourth at their respective region meet Monday or Tuesday.

COVID-19 Denied Twice
Amarillo (5A Region I)
La Feria (4A Region IV)
Spring Branch Stratford (6A Region III)
Thrall (2A Region IV)

The list of 21 schools sending both boys and girls teams would have been 32 if not for the development of protocols to reduce the number of individuals at the state meet.
