Surfside Beach Marathon Update (November 7)

OverNite Software Surfside Beach Marathon & Half Marathon Update

Things are shaping up for the 5th annual Surfside Beach event.

If you haven't registered yet, we have now passed the half-way mark to filling our field for this year.

If you have registered, and are ready to make hotel reservations, we have arranged a special rate with a newly constructed Texan Inns & Suites in our area. The phone is 979-266-7774. Ask for the "Surfside Beach Marathon" rate of $60 for a King room or $75 for a twin double or King suite room. They are conveniently located on highway 332 in Clute/Lake Jackson.

Other hotels in the area include the Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Suites, and Super 8.

I do think you will find a good value at our race hotel, the Texan Inn & Suites.

We will keep you posted with more developments, as we count down to February 14th, 2009.

Welcome ... Again!

It was more than a year ago that I decided to take my original "Houston Running" blog private for a multitude of reasons.

And for many of those same reasons, which I won't go in to, it will remain private.

When I was standing with Lance Phegley, my Runner Triathlete News and Inside Texas Running editor, at the United Space Alliance 10-Miler on Sunday, October 11, somebody (who I did not know) said that they wish that I still had "this blog" again.

As I was out on a long run on Saturday, I thought more seriously about bringing it back.

So here it is.

And if the quality isn't what I'm used to producing, I'll kill it in a heartbeat.

And whatever position that I take here, it doesn't represent any of my roles and responsibilities with HARRA, RTN, ITR, the Courier of Montgomery County, The Woodlands Running Club or the Seven Hills Running Club.

It only represents me and what I think - right, wrong or indifferent.
